Manuel Abadia's ASP.NET stuff - Vista annoyance

 Friday, July 20, 2007

The more time I spent with Windows Vista, the more I want to install XP again.

Last week I installed several updates an after rebooting the following dialogs are poping up every time I log in:

For those that don’t speak Spanish, the dialogs are saying that I may be using a pirated version of Vista. Aero is not working and automatic updates either.

If I click in the link to solve the problem, my copy is validated successfully but the same dialogs keep appearing.

I called Microsoft and they have checked that my Vista copy is genuine, that I have activated it only once, but more than a week has passed and I don’t have a solution.

The funniest thing is that I had a call yesterday asking me if I fixed the problem!

I hope they don’t ask me to format the computer because I’ll lost a lot of time to set up the computer again. However, maybe that will increase my productivity in the long term, because I’ll avoid Vista for some time… (more RAM to be used for something interesting, less CPU load for all operations and something that doesn't need 2 minutes to delete 1000 1Kb files).
